Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does an average meat pig weigh?
A: An average meat pig weighs anywhere between 150 to 180 lbs.

Q: What is your description of a trophy?
A: A trophy boar with 2 inch or better tusk length.

Q: I don't want to deal with hauling the carcass to a butcher, can you help me?
A: If you'd like us to deliver your pig(s) to our local butcher for processing, we will provide you with a required Processor's Report and a map to Paso Meat and Sausage Company. It is your responsibility to give the butcher cutting instructions and pick up your meat in a timely manner. Paso Meat and Sausage Company offers meat processing that takes anywhere from three to seven business days and will gladly ship your meat (additional fee) to you if you cannot make the trip back to their facilities.Their processing fees for any size of pig will start at $90.00 for a regular cut and wrap. Having your hams smoked or sausage linked will add to the cost of processing.

Q: Is it okay for me to share pig tags with others?
A: No, it's not okay. Pig tags are non-transferable, and that means you own them and cannot share or sell them.

Q: I'm not a resident of California. Will my hunting license from my state be acceptable?
A: No. You will need to purchase a non-resident hunting license and pig tags in the state of California. You can either stop at a sporting goods store on your way here, or you can send us a copy of your current hunting license and drivers license ahead of time, and we can get it for you.
Warning: A 2-day hunting license is NOT for big game hunts! It is only good for upland birds. The cashier at a sporting goods store will not know the difference.
Please make sure that you get the correct license before you get here. Your hunt will be delayed due to a trip to town to purchase the correct license. A non-resident license costs $134.95 and a non-resident pig tag costs $62.20.
We highly recommend that you purchase your license and tags ahead of time through the Department of Fish & Game:  www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/index.html
