A Ranch Retreat For All Seasons
The Cagliero Ranch
Experience the richness of California mission history on the Vineyard
Wildlife Ranch. You will be surrounded by 2,800 acres of rolling hills of oak trees, juniper cypress and bull pines. This
spacious family owned ranch has a year around spring and a mission reservoir that furnished water to the Padres to make bricks
and tile for the San Miguel Mission in 1797. Originally there was 16 acres that belonged to the Bishop of Monterey. It was
an old Spanish Land Grant. There are pristine views and sunsets on the range tops and a wild berry patch along Vineyard
Canyon Road. Cagliero Farming has existed since 1956. The Cagliero's raise alfalfa and grain hay and have a cow/calf operation
on the ranch. There is a water system throughout the ranch that provides water for the cattle and wildlife. The ranch is
also included in the existing Tule Elk Program, plus it has wild boar and native deer. There are dove on the ranch,
plus quail that run along the creek with the wild water cress. The ranch has a main residence, 2 large hay barns, a granery,
saddle room, working corrals, employee housing, a shop and a hunting cabin. The third Cagliero generation is running the farming
operation which will hopefully stay in the family for many generations to come. Vineyard Wildlife Ranch is located 5 miles
north of the Mission town of San Miguel and 15 minutes from the premier Paso Robles wine region.
Vineyard Wildlife Ranch aims to please the outdoor enthusiast and
takes pride in preserving their ranch heritage.
We have just expanded !!
Beginning January 1st, 2010, our hunting operation is taking
in an additional 4,000 acres.
Merging all ranches together will offer our hunters a wide variety
of terrain to cover which consists of rolling oak studded farm ground down in the canyon up to brush-choked
canyons on the top of the Vineyard Canyon Grade.
We offer 2-day wild pig hunts on the 3 ranches. A small hunting cabin
on the Cagliero Ranch is available for our hunters to stay in. It can accomodate up to 7 people.
There is a 2-party minimum group size for pig hunters.
We also offer Buck Hunts in the A Zone Season on the Cagliero Ranch.
You may choose to bring your family for a few days and stay in the
hunting cabin and tour the San Miguel and San Antonio Missions.
Paso Robles is close by with a huge selection of wineries and plenty of shopping.
The hunting cabin has a large kitchen and living space
as well as two bedrooms and a single bathroom.
It is surrounded by a beautiful shaded yard and alfalfa and barley fields.
The spacious kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. A
few dishes and pots and pans are available but we recommend that you bring along disposable things for an easy clean
up.
If you don't feel like cooking for yourself, we
recommend that you try Mission Market & Deli or Mission Burger Station (located next to the Post Office on Mission
Street) for lunch. You can have the Deli build you a delicious sandwich or wrap. Or you may choose to have
the Burger Station barbeque you a delicious burger. Their burgers are the best! For dinner, you may want to try Mission Pizza & Pasta Kitchen or The Ranch (restaurant & honky
tonk).
If you'd prefer to have your meals provided for you, please let us know when
you book your hunt.
The hunting cabin has two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has two sets of bunkbeds
and the other has two single beds. Both are linked to a small bathroom with a shower. There is also a day-bed located
in the front room. Linens are provided.
